On your draft day, you’ll be enlisted to the IDF at your local recruitment bureau. After a short signup you’ll be taken to 'Meitav', where you’ll pass through the enlistment sequence (שרשרת חיול) under the supervision and help of 'Meitav' as well as commanders from your future base.

Some things to know before you experience the enlistment sequence:

  1. The entrance of food and beverages is prohibited.

 

  1. Smoking is prohibited.

 

  1. Cellphones are forbidden (they will be kept in your personal bag outside of the enlistment sequence).

 

  1. The entrance of personal belongings is forbidden.

 

  1. Pay attention, these rules will be enforced by the commanders present. Please abide by these rules in order to prevent being penalized by the IDF.

The stations that you will pass:

  1. Photographer- In this station you will be photographed for your new army identification card. At this station make sure to not be wearing a hat or sunglasses. Women must have their hair up.

 

  1. Oral cavity imaging and X-Ray- The upper, lower, and outer jaw will be photographed. Do not arrive with watches, bracelets, rings, or earrings.

 

  1. Fingerprint scanning- In the event of a tragedy, the fingerprint scans will be used for identification purposes. Do not arrive with watches, bracelets, or rings.

 

  1. Personal Information- Personal information is checked to make sure there are no mistakes. Informationa such as your identification card, bank account number, and bank branch number.

 

  1. Bone Marrow- A voluntary station where you can have a sample taken in order to save the lives of cancer patients.

 

  1. Vaccination - A blood sample will be taken and vaccinations will be administered in accordance with the type of your army service. If you have been vaccinated in the past year you may present the corresponding documents to the medical staff present.

 

  1. Army I.D. (חוגר)- You will be issued your army I.D., פנקס שבי, and dogtags (דיסקיות).

 

  1. Appointment Officer- A personal interview with an appointment officer.

 

  1. Logistics- Military and civilian equipment that you’ll need for your entire service will be given to you.

 

  1. Medical Committee- If there is the need for a clarification, men designated for combat service and women who have volunteered for combat service will meet with a doctor. The doctor will perform a check and if there is something that needs further investigation it will be seen to by the medical department in your unit.
