Children of Immigrants or Children of Emissaries

The Security Service Law applies to each person with an Israeli citizenship, whether they are in Israel or not. In other words, an Israeli citizen who lives outside of Israel is also obligated to serve in the IDF.

The Duration of a New Immigrant's Military Service

Enlistment Sequence - 'Sharsheret Hiyul'

On your draft day, you’ll be enlisted to the IDF at your local recruitment bureau. After a short signup you’ll be taken to 'Meitav', where you’ll pass through the enlistment sequence (שרשרת חיול) under the supervision and help of 'Meitav' as well as commanders from your future base.

Garin Tzabar is the best support system for IDF lone soldiers. the program founded in 1991 and supported over 5,500 young Jewish adults who wished to make Israel their home and serve a meaningful service in the IDF as Lone Soldiers. Garin Tzabar is the only program that provides a 360° support system for its participants before moving to Israel, during and after their army service including accommodation on a full board basis throughout the whole service, physical and mental preparation to the army, Hebrew studies, assistance with Israel civil services and IDF bureaucracy, integration to Israeli society, building a family within a host community in Israel (kibbutz/Ra’anana) and crafting a new Garin family - A Family For Life”.
